You Are An Original!

The world’s most expensive art sale was for Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvatore Mundi which sold for $450.3 million. The Mona Lisa is believed to be worth more than $867 million but is not for sale. Originals have value and worth unlike fakes which have much less value. Worth is also determined by what you are willing to pay for it. Do you know that irrespective of your financial net worth, you are worth much more than 450 or 867 million dollars? You are an original because there is no one else like you past, present or in the future. You are priceless, because God Himself sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross for you.

We live in a culture that is more interested in other people and what they are doing through social media rather than discovering who we are and what we are created to be. We cannot remain a mystery to ourselves. We have so much depth to us that we need a lifetime to discover who we are. There are abilities that come naturally to you that others may have to labor over it. We need to discover our originality and what God has blessed us with to become all that God has created us to be! So let’s not waste time comparing, complaining and competing. Instead let’s spend time discovering what God has put inside of us.
Psalm 139:13-14
13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

Don’t let people tell you what you cannot do. Every idea initially may have started as a ridiculous idea. People told David to not go out and fight Goliath but David decided not to listen to them. He knew that he could defeat Goliath with God’s help. You can be the one to break the mould and do something different. Peter walked on water after Jesus did the same, something the laws of physics would tell you that you cannot even attempt. With God, nothing is impossible if you are willing to walk with Jesus. The Wright brothers Wilbur and Orville were laughed at when they said that they could build a machine that could fly. They pulled it off in 1903 when they made four brief flights on the first successful airplane defying the laws of gravity as they discovered the law of the lift.
1 Samuel 17:36-37
36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

God has deposited seeds of greatness and potential and talent in us. It does not come fully developed. God asks us to work on it and multiply it and be fruitful. That means we are the ones responsible to see what can be done in not only discovering what seeds of talent, creativity and potential that God has placed within us but to also nurture and develop it so that the seed produces fruit. God called us to bear fruit with the seeds He has given us. We will be a blessing to others when we do this and God is pleased when we live out our potential!
Matthew 25:22-23
22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ 23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

The seed has to be hidden away in the dirt, barren places often to be able to burst forth and grow and produce fruit. It often means we are willing to die, willing to be unrecognised, willing to work while being hidden away. Only when we are willing to do this, can we produce fruit from our seed to it’s highest potential and capacity. God does not want us to bury our talent in the ground and not multiply the talent He has given us. This means that we are willing to start at zero to uncover a new potential, a purpose, pursue a new business idea and be vulnerable with our creativity that He has placed inside of us.
John 12:24
24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

So much potential and fruit inside of us yet to be discovered! Yes, it may take a while in difficult and unseen places to develop your seed but it will all be worth it when we start producing fruit and living out our glorious purpose. Are you discouraged today questioning your value, worth and potential? There is so much more depth and purpose to you that you need a whole lifetime to unpack. Your life counts. You are unique. You can break the mould and achieve your unique purpose. Don’t settle for lies when you can live out the truth in God’s word! So go out into your world and be the original you are created to be!
